disordered eating and night Bingeing

Night bingeing often follows periods of restriction, fatigue,

or reduced structure during the day.

This module explores why eating behaviours intensify in the

evening and how to stabilise patterns across the day.

What will you learn?

  • Why binge episodes commonly occur at night

  • The link between daytime restriction and evening overeating

  • How fatigue and reduced structure increase vulnerability

  • The role of habit, routine, and environmental cues

  • Practical strategies to reduce night time binge patterns

  • How to build consistency across the full day

Night Support Guided Sessions

A structured evening support session led by a facilitator. The session includes guided reflection prompts, short exercises, and practical strategies to help participants manage urges and navigate evening challenges.

Participants can attend without pressure to speak, follow the prompts, and use the space for structured support during a time of day when binge eating behaviours often increase.

Night Support Interactive Sessions

An open discussion evening support session where participants can talk about what they are experiencing in the moment. The facilitator supports conversation and helps guide discussion toward practical strategies and reflection.

Participants are encouraged to share experiences, ask questions, and receive peer support during evening hours when urges may be stronger.

Lachlan and joining in with "Night Support"

The night binge course and night support sessions helped me understand what was happening during the times I struggled most. Having support available at night made it easier to pause and think about what was going on. The course also helped me notice patterns in my evening routine. My binge eating had been pretty bad especially at night. I don't feel alone anymore and that has made a huge difference.

Managing Night Bingeing in Recovery

Night bingeing is often influenced by earlier behaviours in the day. Restriction, delayed eating, stress, and fatigue can increase vulnerability in the evening.

Evenings may also provide fewer distractions and more access to food, reinforcing habitual patterns.

Managing night bingeing involves:

  • Increasing regular eating during the day

  • Reducing restrictive behaviours

  • Creating evening structure

  • Identifying environmental triggers

  • Building alternative coping strategies for fatigue and stress

This module supports stabilising eating patterns across the entire day rather than focusing only on the night.
